The challenges of geography have inspired a set of innovative solutions for Health and Social Care in Sicily. Tele-consultations enable highly specialised services – incl. home care – tailored to the needs of patients and professionals. Enabled by a partnership among the Region of Sicily and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) – a global integrated health enterprise and USA-based health care leader – ISMETT is a research hospital providing integrated medical services with a focus on transplantation for the South of Italy and beyond.
The visit featured a comprehensive workshop programme offering unique insight into this and also into other partnerships for innovative health services in Euro-Mediterranean regions.
