[Greeting]
Be among the first to know what’s the buzz in digital health!
Here are the latest topics, news, and opportunities carefully curated by our team.
Artificial intelligence and digital twins are among the topics coming to the forefront of Europe’s attention and about to transform health and care activities. Some of the core services in which these changes are taking place are helping people experiencing dementia and frailty. With this in mind, it can really help to have tools available that help you assess how close is your own care organisation to going digital.
Many of these initiatives and activities come under the umbrella of the European Health Data Space (EHDS). Learn more about what EHTEL is doing to help forge implementation of the EHDS e.g., its electronic health systems, its standards and certification.

⏺️Digital transformation of health and care
Artificial intelligence and digital twins are among EHTEL’s core topics.EHTEL has participated in two international Thought Leadership activities with a focus on AI. Coming up soon there will also be the opportunity to explore the work of digital twins.
EHTEL has been working on a digital maturity assessment tool (DMAT) to help you assess how close is your care organisation to going digital. Today, social care organisations are focusing on people experiencing dementia and/or frailty.
Assessing digital readiness in care – how the Laurel DMAT can help
Ask yourself the question of whether your care organisation is ready togo digital
Some EHDS-related events e.g., on EHR systems and ESHIA, organised by EHTEL, are geared towards EHTEL members. EHTEL members, and attendees, have access to the resulting materials (e.g., videos and reports). This access to resources is a great reason to join our community!
EHTEL members will meet to explore the work of the newly created European Standards for Health Interoperability Alliance (ESHIA). To learn more about ESHIA

Two major international organisations, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the World Health Organization (WHO), are now developing roadmaps and action plans on AI.
Our health and wellbeing are shaped by many factors at once: our bodies and medical conditions, the homes we live in, the air we breathe, and the wider environment around us. Yet today, these elements are often studied in isolation. AIGENT—a new project due to launch in autumn 2026—will aim to change this isolated and siloed approach.
A new practical toolkit developed by EHTEL and the Politechnic University of Madrid in the EU-funded Laurel Project is helping care organisations across Europe understand how ready they are to embrace digital technology — and what it will take them to get there.
COMFORTage’s fourth Community Forum was held on 27 February 2026, supported by EHTEL and the Laurel project. The session focused on how to move from fragmented systems of dementia and frailty care towards integrated, prevention-oriented, data-informed ecosystems that genuinely improve people’s lives.
In this article, Sara Canella from EHTEL Secretariat reflects on sharing the Laurel Digital Maturity Assessment Tool at ICIC26, exploring how care organisations can understand their digital readiness and prepare to use technology in ways that support more integrated, person-centred care.
This time, our EHTEL AGM will be held virtually on 19 June 2026. It will be combined with the 7th edition of the EHDS Implementers Task Force, which will be dedicated to the newly created association, the European Standards for Health Interoperability Alliance (ESHIA). The registration link is available in the EHTEL members workspace.
Your answers will help assess the uptake of standards and EHDS structures related to the format. Target groups are EHR practitioners from Member States, health authorities, healthcare providers, industries and SDOs. The survey will take 15 minutes to fill in.
