EHTEL Update: Events in the coming 3 weeks and outlook to Open Days (October) and the EHTEL Symposium (December)

Please find herewith some opportunities in the upcoming weeks before the summer break. Read on further below to see the outlook to significant EHTEL related events in the second half of 2013:

  • 26 - 28 June 2013, Barcelona, Spain: MIHealth (Health Management and Clinical Innovation) FORUM 
    The MIHealth Forum is the benchmark global forum for clinical innovation and health management, where knowledge and experiences are shared towards the greater efficiency of the health system. it combines a congress and an exhibition in an innovative framework.

  • 28 June 2013, Barcelona, Spain: AER Seminar on Integrated Care at MIHealth FORUM .
    This satellite event to the MIHealth Forum is coorganised by the Assembly of the European Regions (AER) and the Regional Ministry of Health of the Government of Catalonia. Integrated care aims at closing the gap between health and social care in terms of delivery, management and organisation, thus overcoming the fragmentation of services and creating opportunities for synergies and savings. The seminar aims to explore how to implement this approach into practice. Further information is in this file.
  • 1 - 3 July 2013, London, UK: the Kind's Fund 3rd Annual International Congress on Telehealth and Telecare 
    Now in its third year, the purpose of the International Congress on Telehealth and Telecare is to bring together researchers, policy makers, practitioners and innovators interested in the design and application of technologies to share experiences and to showcase new ideas, new research and new innovations in telehealth and telecare that will support improvements in care of people with long-term conditions and other health social care needs. Speakers include EHTEL President Professor George OBE and some of our members like Arsenal.IT (Veneto Region) and Russell Jones, Chorleywood Health Centre, UK. Then, for after the summer break, we invite you to mark your calendars already for the events below that are either organised, co-organised or partnered by EHTEL. At least for the OPEN DAYS in October you must also do further advance planning now if you are living in Brussels. This is one of the most crowded weeks in the Brussels year.

  • 5 - 19 September, Brussels to Barcelona, The mHealth Grand Tour "Mobile at the heart of health" 
    The mHealth Grand Tour - jointly presented by IDF International Diabetes Federation - Europe and GSMA (representation of mobile operators worldwide)  is a cycle ride with a difference. Going from Brussels to Barcelona in just 13 days, it is 2,100km long with more than 22,000 meters of climbs. However, it isn't just a bike ride - it is also the opportunity to help demonstrate innovative solutions to the challenges of managing diabetes. The mHealth Grand Tour is designed to demonstrate devices, applications and health solutions that can help people manage diabetes and related conditions, liberating them to lead active lifestyles. Since "anyone can participate in the mHealth Grand Tour by entering as an individual, joining one of the charity teams, an industry team or by entering their own company team" please explore the matter further now at  http://www.mhealthtour.com ("The Challenge" is a good starting point to learn and to take action if you want to be involved)
  • 7 - 10 October 2013,  in Brussels, Belgium: OPEN DAYS – 11th European Week of Regions and Cities 
    The "Open Days" is the landmark event on EU Regional Policy. Over four days, some 6 000 participants – local, regional, national and European decision-makers and experts – gather each October to debate, exchange know-how and network. In addition to the Brusselsbased workshops, over 300 local events run from September to November all over Europe. Inspired by the 2014-2020 timeline of the next update of the cohesion this years slogan is ‘Europe’s regions and cities taking off for 2020’,

  • 8 October 2013,  11:15 - 13:00 h at Thon Hotel EU, Rue de la Loi, 75, 1040 Brussels (Open Days Workshop Code 08C10):
    "Citizens' well-being through mobile care / Efficient personal health services - the silent health revolution"  
    This event is co-organised by EHTEL and hosted by the RENEWING HeALTH Regional Partnership. The workshop will showcase outcomes and lessons learned from care provided to 7000 patients in the framework if the RH pilots and is intended to start a fruitful debate with all European stakeholders on the routine use of telemedicine services. Led by RH coordinator Claus Duedal Pedersen, first results will be presented by Panos Stafylas, RH Medical Coordinator; Tuula Karhula (South Karelia), Claudio Saccavini (Veneto Region) and Anne Sorknæs (Region of Southern Denmark).
    Access to the event is free - but please observe our hints on the logistic dimension if you need to travel.
    Based on the EHTEL involvement, the EHTEL management team is of course the first line for all questions by our members.
