xShare webinar
The EU funded xShare project is meant to prepare the concrete implementation of the European Health Data Space (EHDS). It explores current and prospective use cases which can “activate” the European Electronic Health Record formats (EEHRxF) identified by the regulation. The xShare yellow button is meant to provide the citizen with a simple tool which will provide the right not only to access but also to “act upon” his/her data.
Those developments open important new perspectives for public and population health. Aside from major expected efficiency gains in data collection and validation, they hold the promise of the development of near-real time monitoring of important indicators, support new policy decisions, support processes and knowledge, and bring into the public health domain new types of data produced by or under the control of the citizen. Often those innovative use cases can build on each other further increasing their impact.
This webinar is meant to share the main current findings with an informed audience and also involving important ongoing joint actions in a panel discussion. xShare has studied in detail the first Member States’ initiatives which have created a direct connection between primary and secondary use (sometimes called the “only once” strategy). Specifically, it has prioritised use cases related to infectious disease, cancer monitoring and antimicrobial resistance and has studied the connection with the EEHRxF and the Patient Summary. For this format, a new extension has been proposed to support both clinical research and public health.
This webinar will also shed light on the importance to work on a better alignment between data models and standards used in clinical care and public health.
