EHTEL's EHDS Implementers Task Force - 4th meeting
EHTEL set up a European Health Data Space (EHDS) Implementers' Task Force. This Task Force acts as a response to a set of challenges and opportunities offered by the EHDS, identified by EHTEL members through a survey ran by EHTEL. More than 10 EHTEL members are involved as members of the task force.
This Task Force meeting aims to explore how EHR systems users can best benefit from AI supported monitoring and decision support systems.
The use of the EHRxF foreseen in the EHDS is of course present in the background, but the objective is broader, as we aim at capturing the real requirements for meaningful interactions between EHR and AI solutions.
The AI solutions can indeed be considered both as data consumer and a data provider (transformer) of EHR systems. In the latter case in particular when dealing with unstructured data. AI is not just an endpoint goal; it is also becoming a key enabler of the FAIRification process itself. The focus is thus clearly first on data although other legal, ethical and organisational aspects are also being tackled.
Prior to the taskforce webinar the short briefing document will be circulated to all registered attendants.
Speakers
Luc Nicolas, EHTEL: Outlines of the briefing paper
Dragan Sahpaski, CTO at Sorsix: The perspective of an EHR developer
Stefano Tagliaferri, Technical Director at Kelyon Srl: The perspective of an AI DSS developer
The meeting will:
- Help participants to understand the issues at stake with AI supported EHR systems
- Provide insights from two EHTEL members
- Help validating the main questions to be raised and possibly propose additional ones.
EHTEL's EHDS Task Force meets up at least twice a year with a focus on what needs to be done for and by digital health implementers.
The task force has held an 18 February 2025 meeting on "The Road to the EHDS", with experiences described by experts from Finland and Germany. On 28 May 2025, it organised a meeting on what the EHDS definition of EHR systems means for implementers.
