One of the next major XiA milestones will be the XiA Educathon, which will take place in Pisa during the Hospitals on FHIR User Days from 19-21 October 2026.

The educathon format is central to the spirit of XiA (Europe’s Xpanding Innovative Alliance).

In healthcare, hackathons help develop solutions, and connectathons help test interoperability. The XiA educathon brings the education dimension into this culture of practice.

It creates a space where participants can work on interoperability-related learning challenges, explore practical scenarios, test ideas, and connect education with implementation.

The Pisa Educathon will also be an important moment for the XiA Community of Practice.

This October 2026 event will help:

• Activate the Italian ecosystem.
• Bring together stakeholders around real learning needs.
• Collect targeted feedback on XiA themes and outputs.
